This Data Visualisation project was a team project. We collected the data from www.kaggle.com/kaggle/us-baby-names and used excel and Open Refine for the initial analyzation and exploration (see graph 1-1) to see where a unisex name started to shift from a boy's name to a girl's name or vice versa.
After we narrowed down to those exciting moments, we made several simple bar charts in Excel to see the general trends of the dataset. In the final version of this project, we used a library developed by Baidu and created this visualisation, in which user can interact with the timeline and trace the number of both Angle as a boy’s name and as a girl’s name over time. Users can also select a specific period of time to examine the changes in detail.

This process is designed to help me identify bugs in my code faster and keep a clean, organized code structure.
DataVis - Game of Throne - Valar Morghulis

“Velar Morghulis” means “All Men Must Die” in the TV series Game of Throne. This is a data visualisation project showing the jockeying of power among the 9 houses in the TV series Game of Throne. Each point of the radar chart represents one house in Game of Throne, and the coloured areas represent the percentage of people who are still alive in a specific episode, showing the power of the house at that time.
Users can also select a season from the top left corner and watch the timeline play automatically to get the sense of the rise and fall of the 9 houses over time.
In this project, the question of who should count towards which house came up frequently as one person could be in one house in the beginning and married to another house later. The consensus we reached was to categorize them based on which house they serve at that point in history.
